The Cairngorms Wilderness Skills Expedition

The Cairngorms Wilderness Skills Expedition

The cairngorms survival and wilderness skills expedition is a challenging event where we as a group will head off into the remote wilds of the Scottish highlands to experience true wilderness.  This course will be both physically and mentally tough.

The journey will be in excess of 45 km over the course duration and you will be responsible for carrying everything with you for the event.  We will be travelling unsupported by vehicle and negotiating difficult terrain at times. As tough as it will be you will leave us  with a feeling of accomplishment , increased confidence in the outdoors and a greater understanding of how to look after yourself for future adventures

over the duration of the event you will be taught and tested on the following subjects

You must be of a good level of fitness to attend this course and strong enough to carry your kit for the duration. On the first day we will be walking a distance of up to 16km, this day will be the longest stretch that we cover in a single days hike. We will be aiming for the  Ben Alder region. Day two, we will be heading North with a much shorter walk of around 8km until we reach our campsite for the second night which will be near the River Pattack. When we arrive at camp we will be teaching you skills needed for the next phase of the event, the survival phase.

Over the next 2 days you will be tested on looking after yourself as if you were in a survival situation, you will be making your own shelter, fire  sourcing water and food. This will be a challenging time and push most people outside of their comfort zone. On the final Morning we will be leaving camp and heading back to Civilisation we will aim to be back at Dalwhinnie for 11.00am on the Sunday morning.

Course Summary

A great expedition trip into the remote Scottish Highlands that will be both Challenging  and rewarding.
