Survival and Bushcraft skills on our Father and Son event

We recently hosted our annual Father and Son event at Cotehele. All who attended had a fantastic time and learnt some new outdoor skills. The guys started their trip with some knife safety and wood carving. Shelter building was up next and there was some great results. A break for lunch then it was back to the shelters to add the finishing touches, collect fire wood and make them comfortable.

The afternoon was spent learning how to make fire using several techniques which was good fun. Preparing the evening meal which was Rabbit proved to be a little challenging but all the guys finished it and did a great job. In the evening some games were played, marshmallows got toasted and then it was time to settle in to the shelters for the night.

In the morning we had an early start, breakfast was served and we were straight out to collect materials for our bows and arrows. We had a few hours preparing the bows  and when everyone was ready we went to the field to test them out. This was the end of our  weekend, a great time was had by all.
