Survival and Bushcraft day for Plymouth’s Scouts
Today we ran a survival and bushcraft day for 23 of Plymouth’s scouts from various troops. The day began at 9.30 with three different activities on a rotation system. The three activities were; building signal fires, knife safety with cutting and carving work and shelter building.
The weather had been threatening to rain but fortunately held off all day.
After all of the activities the scouts were shown how to prepare their own catch which was rabbit and wood pigeon. All the youngsters really paid attention and enjoyed this demo and came up with some really good inquisitive questions.
Adrian’s knife work was really appreciated and at the end of the day the signal fires were lit for all to see and enjoy.
Overall the group really enjoyed their day with us and already there is talk of extending the course into a weekend camp in the near future.
